Our aim is to provide a safe, warm place for our guests during the coldest nights of the year.
Welcome to Gateway's
Extreme weather shelter
From November 1 to March 31 Gateway Community Church hosts the Extreme Weather Shelter for the city of Abbotsford. In partnership with BC Housing, we are able to accommodate 30 beds each night the shelter is open.
As guests arrive, they receive a warm and friendly welcome by our wonderful volunteers and staff. Each guess will go through a 'welcoming process' and be given a sleeping bag and pillow. Once the guest settles in there is hot soup, fresh buns and coffee to enjoy.
When the morning comes, each guest cleans up their sleeping bag and pillow,
fresh coffee is ready and a bag breakfast to go.
