Let's get the process going...

Thank you for your interest in Gateway Community Gardens. We look forward to gardening together. Please go through each section below to complete the application process.

  • To show your interest in one of Gateway's Garden plots, please email Marcel at marcel@gatewaycrc.org. Once it is received, one of our amazing Community Garden Team members will reach to you to discuss. Thank you!   Happy Gardening.

  • In order for the Community Gardens to become a place where everyone wants to garden, we need to set a few 'ground' rules. Please take some time to read and sign. This is part of the application process.

    Garden by-laws

  • Plots can be rented from the Gateway Community Gardens Board: $35/year for a 4’ x 12’ sized bed

A separate damage deposit of $30 is also due once you have been approved for a plot rental. This will be held by the Garden Board, and returned to you once you have decided not to renew your rental. If your plot is not returned in good condition, the deposit may be kept and used to fix the plot for the next rental.

  • Who can rent a garden plot?

The Gateway Community Gardens are established to be a blessing to our community. So who can rent? Those living within the community of Abbotsford.

    Will tools be provided?

Tools will not be provided immediately but over time we hope to provide a shed and tools.  As we begin, each gardener will need to bring their own tools.  For the larger community volunteer garden days, tools such as wheelbarrows etc. will be provided.

    What about animals?

As much as we love animals, we do not love them eating our produce. So we plan to build a 6 foot high wire fence around the perimeter of the gardens.  Will this be 100% effective in keeping out animals? No, but it will help.  For garden plot that are not surrounded by a fence, fundraising efforts are in place so that we can build a fence around ALL the garden beds.

    What about safety?

As mentioned, we will have a 6 foot fence around the perimeter of the garden and the gate will be locked with a key-pad lock.  Only those with the lock code will have access to the gardens.

    Will water be provided?

Yes, we will have a garden hose available for proper watering of your garden
