Leslie'S summer 2025 NEWSLETTER

Prayer Requests

  • Prayers for exams for Grades 7, 9 and finally 12 are all writing major government exams. There is so much pressure for the student when writing these exams since they are the difference between moving on to the next grade or repeating. We are praying they all pass but also do not get overly stressed.

  • As we are entering Term 3, this marks the beginning of the end of our school year. This also means we are experiencing more and more busyness. We have lots of exciting programs coming up like our first graduation class. I personally feel the stress of all the different programs that are needed to be organised and prepped for. Prayers for just an inner peace and not letting myself get overwhelmed with all that is going on.

  • I am also nearing the end of my time living in Zambia. I will be moving back to Canada in December of 2025. I will still be working for The Esther School, but it will be a more remote role. I have all sorts of feeling of leaving this place that I have called home for 8.5 years and the people that I have lived life alongside for most of my adult life. While it won't be goodbye, it will still be hard to transition.

  • Please pray over our community where our school is situated. It can appear as though kids come from safe, stable and happy homes but we know that outside of school there are so many different challenges and temptations. We strive to be hope in the darkness not only with education but with the gospel that is the true light for all. Pray for wisdom and discernment for us as we navigate how to support this community the best we can.

jOHNSONS september UPDATE 2025

Prayer Requests and Praises:

  • A young woman who has responded to the gospel message at the Way Maker Youth Gathering a few years aga. Despite facing opposition from family and friends she wants to learn more about God.  Pray that we would have opportunity to teach and mentor her in this.
  • Pray for the young couple whom we have been discipling, they have struggled with health issues that have pulled them away from their faith community.  Pray for physical healing and for their faith to stay strong during the health struggles.
  • An online Bible study we have with a woman who lives 2 hours away.  She has some serious physical limitations and is desiring to move back to Salmon Arm to be closer to her support people.  Pray that she may find a place soon.
  • We are grateful to God for a meeting this last month with a woman who wanted to seek reconciliation and who needed to hear words of hope.  Pray that we may continue to minister to her as she needs encouragement and hope from God’s Word.
  • We continue to host Supper Clubs on the reserve every month.  Pray that it will continue to be a blessing to the community and provide a place to talk and check in with each other.
  • A young man is seeking us out and wants to know more about Christianity.  He’s been exposed to some cult teachings, so pray that he will be open to hear us as we share the gospel with Him.  Pray that the Holy Spirit will guide our conversations with this young man.
  • Pray for Howard’s ongoing physical skin ailment.  Recent bloodwork showed that something isn’t right. Pray that the specialist will be able to find answers and a possible treatment for him to alleviate the itchiness and help him get better sleep at night.
