Our aim is to create an environment where both people and plants can flourish and grow.
Thank you for your interest in Gateway Community Gardens. We look forward to gardening together. Please go through each section below to complete the application process.
To show your interest in one of Gateway's Garden plots, please fill out the application form. Once it is received and reviewed by the Garden Team you will be contacted for a short phone interview.
In order for the Community Gardens to become a place where everyone wants to garden, we need to set a few ground rules. Please take some time to read and sign. This is part of the application process.
Plots can be rented from the Gateway Community Gardens Board: $35/year for a 4’ x 12’ sized bed. This can be payed by credit card
(coming soon: via the tab). If you desire to pay by cash or cheque, please make cheque payable to Gateway Community Church (gardens) and place in church mailslot on the south side of the church along with a signed copy of the Garden by-laws or mail to the church using the address below.
A separate damage deposit of $30 (cheque) is also due once you have been approved for a plot rental. This will be held by the Garden Board, and returned to you once you have decided not to renew your rental. If your plot is not returned in good condition, the deposit may be kept and used to fix the plot for the next rental.
Once the Garden Team has approved your application we ask that you pay with credit card, cash or cheque. If you are unable to pay by credit card please drop off cash or cheque at Gateway Community Church and place in the church mailslot by the south entrance doors. Please include a copy of the signed by-laws form with your cheque or cash.

Who can rent a garden plot?
The Gateway Community Gardens are established to be a blessing to our community. So who can rent? Those living within the community of Abbotsford. We will have 7 of the 24 garden plots for members of Gateway Community Church and the remaining plots will be for those living in the area having a desire to garden.
Will tools be provided?
Tools will not be provided immediately but over time we hope to provide a shed and tools. As we begin, each gardener will need to bring their own tools. For the larger community volunteer garden days, tools such as wheelbarrows etc. will be provided.
What about animals?
As much as we love animals, we do not love them eating our produce. So we plan to build a 6 foot high wire fence around the perimeter of the gardens. Will this be 100% effective in keeping out animals? No, but it will help.
What about safety?
As mentioned, we will have a 6 foot fence around the perimeter of the garden and the gate will be locked with a key-pad lock. Only those with the lock code will have access to the gardens.
Will water be provided?
Yes, we will have a garden hose available for proper watering of your garden
